Tortilla flat book review I've since read cannery row and sweet thursday which i love, love, love. All the metaphors and descriptive language is incredible, but his choice of topics always irritates me. To me, it seems mostly a view into what life was like for people of that time and place.

From the preface, this is the story of danny and of danny's friends and of danny's house. There's not a lot to do in tortilla flat, but eat, drink and buy souvenirs. I spent most of the movie trying to figure out who had the worst spanish accent. I really love the way john steinbeck writes. This is the first in that collection, and, besides this, the only other of steinbeck's work i have read is 'the grapes of wrath,' which i reviewed for english class, and might type up at some point (incidentally, have you heard of a teacher that gets mad at you for typing something?
